Why this series exists
Most workshop-design resources give you activity lists. A blog post about think-pair-share, a how-to on fishbowl, a generic run-down of role-play. What they do not give you is a coherent library — thirty-plus activities calibrated against each other, indexed by method, organized against the design decisions a workshop designer is actually making, and written for the specific reader this library exists for: coaches, creators, and workshop leaders in the creator economy, running cohort programs, group coaching, and intensive sessions where real behavior change is supposed to happen.
Most activity resources also do not account for the full working arc of a workshop. They describe what happens in the room during the session and stop there. Two taxonomies, one library
Workshop Doctor's canonical framework for active-learning activities — developed across years of applied practice and documented in the Active Learning Activities (ALA) curriculum — uses a cognitive-mode taxonomy: activities grouped by what participants are doing mentally with the material. The library's six families use a pedagogical-method taxonomy: activities grouped by which active-learning method they most directly operationalize. Collaborative, Problem-Inquiry, Simulation, Action-Project, Retrieval-Reflection, Polling-Temperature.
Both lenses are valid, and they map onto each other cleanly. Cognitive-mode is about what the participant is doing in their head. Pedagogical-method is about what structure the workshop leader is putting around that doing. A reader can navigate the library via either lens: "I need an analytical activity" arrives at the problem-inquiry family. "I need a simulation-based rehearsal activity" arrives at the simulation family. Both produce the same destination; the lens is whichever fits the reader's current thinking.

Dimensions you will use when choosing an activity
Six families of thirty-one activities is a lot. The library's capstone, Which Activity Fits Your Workshop?, works through a short qualifying framework to narrow the choice. Four dimensions matter most:
- Session goal. What outcome should the activity produce? Judgment, skill, shared framing, revised view, consolidation, real-time signal, commitment to action?
- Session length and format. Is the activity fitting inside one workshop session, or is it structurally multi-session (as the Action and Project family's activities are)?
- Modality. Is the workshop in person, virtual, or mixed? Most activities work in both; some favor one strongly, and some require specific platform adaptations.
- In-session position. If the activity fits inside one session, is it opening the session (readiness, prior-experience mapping), running mid-session (consolidation, transitions, comprehension checks), or closing the session (commitment, reflection)?
The capstone walks these four dimensions as qualifying questions. The activities are the candidates; the questions narrow to the one or two that fit the specific session being designed.

A few things the library deliberately covers
