Status Awareness
Status awareness is the active-learning principle that the workshop leader maintains an accurate, real-time pulse on participant comprehension through designed signals — temperature checks, polls, cold calls, live work samples — rather than through inference from facial expressions. The principle also requires a time buffer in the design to act on what the signals reveal.
