Purposeful Initiative

Purposeful initiative is the active-learning design principle that the session structurally fosters participants' self-initiation through "just enough" pre-work that is necessary for the opening activity, through natural consequences for unpreparedness, and through design that makes preparation visibly productive. It replaces motivational exhortation with structural design.
