The Multi-Store Model
The multi-store model of memory — also called the modal model — is a framework proposed by Richard Atkinson and Richard Shiffrin in 1968 that describes how information moves through three stages on its way to durable storage: sensory memory, working memory, and long-term memory. It remains the standard reference point in cognitive psychology and is the organizing frame behind every evidence-based workshop design principle.
