Hypothesis Formation
Hypothesis formation in Inquiry-Based Learning is the move where participants propose possible answers to the inquiry question before investigating, then identify what evidence would support or undermine each hypothesis. The process is iterative: early hypotheses usually turn out to be wrong, and the investigation refines them. Hypothesis formation is what separates genuine inquiry from open-ended discussion — it forces the investigation to be testable rather than speculative.
